The following are examples of how we could help children requiring early intervention.
Babies
· Fine motor skills, such as reaching, grasping, picking up objects
· Gross motor skills, such as head control, rolling and sitting.
· Learning how to interact with family
· Helping families set up routines and a home environment to support their baby
· Learning how to play with age-appropriate toys
· Recommending equipment for babies needing additional support
Toddlers/preschool
· Inclusion in childcare or kinder
· Daily living activities, such as feeding, dressing, personal care, toilet training
· Fine motor skills, such as drawing and colouring, using scissors
· Intensive therapy for upper-limb rehab
· Gross motor skills, including using equipment for mobility
· Learning how to interact with family and other children
· Learning how to play with age-appropriate toys
School age
Inclusion in school programs
Fine motor skills, such as writing, drawing, cutting and pasting
Sensory, including understanding your child’s sensory needs and preferences
Support for families
· Linking in with other community services
· Support following a diagnosis
· Establishing routines
· Help during transition times, for example children starting childcare, kindergarten or school.
